Twitter Speaks | Christmas Gift Ideas for Him and Her

It's the season of giving and we all know how hard it can be to buy a gift that your significant other will actually like. Nothing worse than having to fake a squeal of excitement and a "omg, thank youuuuuu" for a gift that doesn't quite cut it ..haha!

I'm here to help :) I spoke to a couple of people on Twitter asking them what they would like to get for Christmas and here's what they said.

For the Ladies

Looks like @SabirahO is looking to upgrade her photography skills because she wants a new camera, Sony A5000 to be precise.

For fashion lover @Ms_Hilz, the LV Capucine bag will make her very happy this season.

@IjebuPrincess wants the Miu Miu Butterfly Singlasses, she specified  color blue.

Another fashion freak on our hands people, @poshbug wants the Chanel Classic Mini with gold hardware.

@burrafly also wants a photography related gift- a tripod stand with a remote control.

I think @MissQueue is inspired by Linda Ikeji's Banana Island mansion because she wants a HOUSE for Christmas...Direct your questions to her guys..LOL.

@AkwaekeD might be a tech buff because she wants an IPad Air 32GB with a pretty cover though.

For @opeoluwaaa, she wants an experience for Christmas. A trip to Calabar to enjoy the annual Christmas festivities, the vibrant culture and history will make a perfect Christmas gift for her.

@PurpleTweetyB was very straightforward, she wants a new car.

For the Guys

Typical for guys to be gadget freaks and @MallamSawyer didn't disappoint. He wants the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

@Immortal_Teddy wants a DSLR Camera and promises whoever buy it for him his undying love and a free photo-shoot.

Jet setter @TonioRossii is craving a vacation. He wants a ticket anywhere! Ghana even..LOL.

@Bule_Jr kept it simple, he loves customized cuff links and would love to get them this Christmas.

There are gadget freaks and there are gadget freaks, @aldmoni wants the DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone.

No Lagos Big Boy is complete without his Agbada so @manmustwack is about that life this Christmas.

@lumydee is tired of his iPhone so a new one will be just perfect!

I really hope you guys have gotten some inspiration from this post. Now go forth and buy great gifts! :-)

Peace & Love,

P.S Shout Out to the two winners of The Ultimate Beauty Gift Box- @lase__ and @damilepetit on Instagram

These Strapless Bras Changed My Life

Forget how random this post might seem, but I'm about to share some life changing information with anyone who's a D-cup and above. Mother Nature decided of her own accord to bless us abundantly in the boobs department and we shouldn't be be made to suffer for that.

Yours truly is a staggering G cup (yes you heard that right) so you can imagine the struggle I have had to go through finding regular bras that fit well not to talk of strapless bras! For the most part of my life, I simply avoided wearing strapless, halter, low back styles because there simply was no bra without straps that could hoist "them" up properly.

Until last year when I discovered two AMAZING bras that changed my story forever. Since then I have bought almost every strapless and low back top/dress I can lay my hands on to make up for the years I had been denied! :)

Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Bra

Ladies, believe me when I tell you that this strapless bra is the realest MVP! It stays up and firm even with my G-cup. I have put it to the test in the most rigorous dancing conditions and I have never had to do that annoying "pull" once! It's awesome for bigger busts but even regular size busts sing this bra's praises to high heavens. Simply put, this is the best strapless bra out there, get yo life!

See it in action below :)

Top and Pants from Maju

Dress from ThingsNigeriansLove

Available from Debenhams UK here for only 28 pounds. Superb!

Wacoal Long Line Low Back Strapless Bra

Low back dresses is one  territory I stayed completely away from until my wedding. I had two beautiful low back dresses that I had to rock at all costs! I combed the internet for several months looking for a low back bra in my size with no luck until God led me to the Bridal Lingerie Store where I found this bra. It is kind of expensive at 70 pounds a pop but I had no other choices so I took a leap of faith and bought it.

It was perfect! Don't believe me? Look at these pictures :)

Yes ladies, low back dresses are not only for our small-boobed friends! :)

Apparently, the company is discontinuing this bra, I don't know whatever for but the Bridal Lingeria Shop has a few more left before it's gone forever!  Buy it here while it's still available.

Really sorry that neither of the bras can be gotten in Nigeria and only in the UK but trust me the stress/cost of the purchase process is definitely worth it!

Peace and Love,

Bella Naija Feature| 6 beauty uses of Turmeric No One Told You About

This article was originally published here on Bella Naija as one of the articles I contributed to their Beauty section.

You may or may not have heard of the plant called Turmeric that grows wildly in South & South East Asia. It has been used for thousands of years in Asia as a cooking spice and even for medicinal purposes. If you are a fan of Indian food like I am, you will have eaten many a turmeric-laced curries.
We are not focusing on curry today though, I’m sharing some of the powerful beauty powers of Turmeric and how you can incorporate it into your beauty regime.

Review | Bvlgari Goldea Perfume

.A few posts ago (here)  I mentioned my aversion for variety when it comes to perfumes. This is slowly changing though as I have started to discover one or two new scents that I really like. So imagine my delight when I was recently gifted the new Bvlgari Goldea perfume! Like I promised on Instagram (@shelovesthefinerthings) here are my thoughts...

What In The World is Texlaxing?

This is the PG-13 version of the response I get from people every time I tell them that my hair is texlaxed! I didn't realize that save for those of us in the Healthy Hair Journey (HHJ) crazed cult, not many people have even heard about the term texlaxing so I decided to do a post on it.

Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015: Recap, Favourites and OOTDs

This year was the first time I participated fully in the Lagos Fashion and Design Week which has been running for 5 years now. I attended all four shows and I had an absolutely amazing time. I shared a lot on Snapchat (yewandesoba) and Instagram (shelovesthefinerthings) but I decided to do a recap of my favourite designers from the week so I don't bore you guys with thousands of pictures…

Day 1

Tifanny Amber came to conquer on Day 1…All of her pieces were fabulous but these are my top 3 picks.

Day 2

Day 2 was the best day of fashion week for me. Many of the designers really brought their A-Game with their collections and the show…Hard to pick but these were my favs...

Ejiro Amos Tafiri

Wanger Ayu

Maki Oh
Orente Ayaba
Akpos Okudu

Akpos Okudu was in first place on day 2! Her pieces were so breathtakingly beautiful, girly and whimsical. The show literally transported everyone to LaLa Land. 5 stars for Akpos!

Day 3

The fabulous fashion continued on Day 3 with my absolute favourite of the night being Andrea Iyamah's swimwear collection! Every single item was fireeee *insert fire emoji*

Toju Foyeh
Andrea Iyamah

Day 4

I couldn't watch all the shows on Day 4 because I got there really late but my two favs for the night were I Am Isigo (Colourful and Creative) and Sisiano (Clean and Minimalistic).

I Am Isigo

What I Wore

Day 1: Blouse and Pants from Eve & Tribe

Day 2: Blouse and Skirt from Eve & Tribe
Day 3: Top and Pants from Maju
Day 4: Top from H & M, Skirt from Dos Clothing Store

#LFDW2015 was an all round amazing time and I must say that the Nigerian fashion industry has come a very long way. Makes me feel really really proud! . I hope you guys enjoyed my recap! :-)

Which of my four outfit looks is your favourite?

Peace and Love,

P.S Shout out to a great photographer, Richy Anazia for these outfit shots!

YSL Beauty Haul & Review

I shared on my Instagram that YSL Beauty was now in Nigeria and a few people got really excited ti hear that! I promised to share a review of products I got and I started by reviewing the YSL Black Opium Perfume. Read here if you missed it.

Today I'm reviewing four makeup products from the brand- the Couture Palette 5 Couleurs, Couture Kajal Eye Pencil, Rouge Pur Lipstick and the Volupte Tint-In-Oil.  The products in general speak LUXURY…The gold and silver packaging makes them them look like top quality products but are they really?

10 Beauty Products I'm Currently Loving

Today's post is just a short and sweet round up of my current beauty favourites.

1) LimeCrime Liquid Lipstick in Salem is my absolute favourite lip product at the moment. The chocolate brown shade is my vibe now and it's perfect for both day and nightie! If I was stuck on an island and could only take one lip product, Salem would be it!

Introducing Sure Gifts and a Giveaway!

Have you guys ever heard of The Five Love Languages? If you haven't you should totally do the test here and find out what your love languages are. It is so important to understand yours and your significant other's, it puts a lot of things into perspective in the relationship.

I brought this up because one of my love languages is "Receiving Gifts" but before you nail me to the cross and crucify me for being "materialistic", hear me out. Gifts (both giving and receiving) for me is not so much the value of the item but the thought process behind them. I love to see that my partner thought about me and put in the work to find me something that makes me happy. Nothing says "love" more than that to me.

Review | YSL Beauty Black Opium Perfume

YSL Beauty is in Nigeria guys! All these luxurious brands now know that Africa. specifically Nigeria is where the money's at so they are all crossing several oceans to come to us! I'm loving it but my bank account isn't...

Anyhoo, when it comes to perfumes, I'm not a very adventurous person. Over the years, I have identified firm favorites and stuck to them. Chanel Chance, Chanel Coco Noir, Armani Si  and Calvin Klein Euphoria are constantly on rotation in my perfume caddy.

Review | Zaron Matte Lipstick Collection

Can I just start this blog post by giving a major shout out to Zaron? These guys are clearly not resting on their oars. They keep up with global beauty trends by constantly innovating, keep it up guys! Read my recent review of their BOMB Uno eyeshadows here.

I was pleasantly surprised when they sent me 8 lip products from their new matte lipstick collection. You guys know I'm the lipstick monster right? My absolute favourite item to collect! I'm fast running out of storage space for my lipsticks but I digress…Anyway, there are two product categories in Zaron's matte range- Lipsticks and Lip Stains.

Review | Crossroads Restaurant at Eko Hotel

I went to an awesome restaurant this past weekend and I just had to share it with you guys. Y'all need to experience what I experienced men!

It was double date night with a couple friend of ours and we decided NOT to go to RSVP because that seems to be the recurrent restaurant choice for us these days. I remembered that the guys from EatDrinkLagos had recently given a glowing review of Crossroads so we decided to give it a try.

Recipe | Coconut Curry Couscous

Couscous is our new thing at home. Ever since I discovered it, we haven't touched rice with a 10-foot pole. Two reasons why you should hop on the Couscous train:

  1. 1 cup of couscous contains 176 calories, that is fewer than the calories in rice or quinoa
  2. It is super easy to cook, ready in 5 mins!
It's also one of those dishes that you can let your imagination run wild with, mix and match any and everything with it and it still tastes amazing! I made this coconut curry version for lunch this past weekend when we had family visiting and it was a hit!

Review | Urban Decay Ammo Palette

Urban Decay is one of the biggest forces to reckon with in the world of eyeshadows. They make bad-ass palettes that always take the beauty world by storm from Naked, Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Basics, Vice etc etc. Urban Decay makes an eyeshadow palette and the world just wants it. Not surprising though because the quality of their products are topnotch but their PR game is also on FLEEEEKKK!

I was gifted the Ammo Palette by the lovely people at AccessoriesNG- thanks guys! :)

Liquid Lipstick Face Off | Coloured Raine vs LA Girls

Liquid lipsticks are my thang now…like I hardly reach for my regular lipsticks anymore, that's how much I'm feeling this new trend. See liquid lipstick reviews I've done here and here. Today I decided to take two liquid lipsticks, one high end and one drugstore and put them up against each other and compare. I like to do these comparison posts because it is very easy to get carried away by all the pomp, pageantry and hype of the high end brands when other more affordable, less hyped brands could offer you just as much or even better.

Review | Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Apologies for the silence in the last few weeks, I was away on vacation which was honestly the best one I have had in a while. From NY to London to Paris to Dubai, it was bliss! Let me know if you guys want me to do a post on our vacation, where we stayed etc if that would be of any interest :)

As the big 30 is fast approaching (face palm) I realized that I have to tailor my skincare to my skin's current needs. What worked for me in my early 20s is no longer suitable. On this vacation, would you believe that I spent more money on skincare than MAKEUP????? The girl is truly becoming a woman :-)

Clean Eating | My Weekly Menu, Shopping List, Recipes, Tips...

I have been a member of #fitfam on and off since 2012. Exercise comes to me easily, I have completed Shaun T's T25 and Insanity Max 30. I also do Zumba, Taebo and Yoga at least 3 times a week. Eating however is the one area where I have constantly struggled with. If there is any fad diet out there, trust me I have tried it! Lemon Detox? Atkins? Dukan? Juice Fast? I have done it all and they have all failed me. These diets will help you lose weight but the results can not be sustained over a long period of time.

Review | Lime Crime Velvetine in Salem

This is one of the makeup products I bought at the Lagos Makeup Fair that happened two Saturdays ago. This was the 4th of the series and my first time attending and I totally loved it- I had so much fun! Was so happy to meet some of my lovely readers...

Now, LimeCrime is one of the independent makeup brands that is sky rocketing daily and kicking the likes of MAC to the curb. This brand in particular has had a lot of bad press around their ethics and some comments allegedly made by the CEO but I don't think anyone can fault the quality of their products.  Some people have chosen to boycott the brand as a matter of personal principle… I am not one of them :-)

Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

**UPDATE: After a few weeks wearing these lipsticks, the formula became very funny. It now dries super matte and patchy then starts to crumble off after a short while :/....Really annoying so yeah these have gone down several notches in my ranking! I will not be purchasing any more shades **

I posted recently about my first experience with a liquid lipstick from NYX here and I loved it. Made me even more excited to try out Anastasia Beverly Hills latest product release, their liquid lipsticks. The company describes them as "Full coverage, intense pigment, and a matte finish in an easy-to-apply liquid formula".

There was and still is so much hype around this product that as usual, the product junkie in me couldn't be tamed, I had to have them! I picked up the shades Vintage and Bloodline...

L: Bloodline, R: Vintage

Bloodline Liquid Lipstick

Shade: Bloodline is supposed to be true to its name and be literally a blood red shade but the thing with lipsticks I have found is that they come out differently on different people. It gave off more of an orangey red on me reminding me very much of MAC's Lady Danger. So in terms of the shade, it's nothing I haven't seen.

Application: It applied like a dream and I achieved full opacity in just two swipes which is really great. I also noticed that it doesn't dry up too quickly giving you more time to perfect it. When it does dry up though…..LOVE <3! A matte lip lover's heaven on earth- the beauty of a truly matte lip without the overly drying effect that often accompanies it..The ABH Liquid Lipsticks score top marks for this.

Length of Wear: I had this lipstick on for 12 whole hours without reapplying and it still looked as good as it did in the morning. It did not dry my lips out at all, I didn't even need to apply lip balm the whole day as I find I have to with other matte lips. Super!!!

Vintage Liquid Lipstick

Shade: Vintage applies exactly as it appears in the tube- a deep purple shade

Application: Similar to bloodline, It applied really well with full opacity. Don't you just hate it when lipsticks can nor provide you full opacity and some parts of your lips don't get covered properly because the lipstick is slipping in sliding!? You don't get none of that around here!

Length of Wear: Super staying power just like Bloodline! After 12 hours it looked like it could go another 12 and my lips were not dry/chapped…I don't know what magic potion ABH put in these but it's working….

I got these from the stars over at BeautyRevNG, I told you they don't sleep on product releases! It cost N5000 each which is pretty steep but not uncommon with "rave of the moment" type products. Are they worth the money though? I would say yes only if you are really really into makeup. If you are not, these will probably not be worth it because you can get liquid lipsticks from other brands like NYX and OCC for much cheaper and good enough quality.

I want to pick up one more shade from this collection though, Pure Hollywood, a super gorgeous nude shade. If it's good enough for my #Bae, Kim Kardashian (who recently rocked the hell out of it at the BET Honors) then it sure as hell is good enough for me! :)

Have you guys tried out any of the Liquid Lipsticks from ABH?

Peace & Love,
